In this lecture and hands-on presentation, explore the state's fascinating archaeological record that spans some 13,000 years. Presented by anthropological archaeologist Dale Simpson. Signup required.

Illinois has a rich and varied archaeological record that spans some 13,000 years. In this presentation, we will first explore this record in lecture format, then interact with hands-on stations that include different archaeological materials from the Land of Lincoln. 

After experiencing “Diggin’ Illinois”, participants will foster a better appreciation for our state’s culture history, in addition to the materials archaeologists find during excavation. Altogether, this presentation will help celebrate Illinois’ past, in the present, for the future. Presented by anthropological archaeologist Dale Simpson. Signup required.

Speaker Bio: Dale F. Simpson Jr. (Ph.D., RPA) is a Senior Scientific Specialist with the Illinois State Archaeological Survey and an adjunct instructor for the College of DuPage and Northern Illinois University. He serves as a Board Member for the Chicago Archaeological Society and the Illinois Association for Advancement of Archaeology. He is the editor of Illinois Antiquity and author to numerous books and articles regarding Pacific anthropology and Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and Illinois archaeology.
