Speaker Bio: Keishera Smith
I have been working at the Crisis Center since October 2017. The Crisis Center is an organization that provides shelter, transitional housing, and counseling to victims of domestic violence. The Crisis Center also provides court and medical advocates for the victims as well. I started out as a hotline shift leader, which consisted of screening callers and providing them with whatever services best fit their needs. After working at the hotline for 3 years, I then became the PM Residential manager of the shelter. The Residential manager is in charge of client needs inside the shelter; checking clients into shelter, going over shelter rules, providing dinner and snack, providing linen, toiletries and clothing if needed. I am now the new Safe Start Prevention Coordinator. The Safe Start Prevention Coordinator educates about prevention techniques that can help people avoid relational and behavioral issues that typically result in violence.
