Former executive director of The Churchill Centre, Daniel Myers, shares a magnificent showing of Churchill and his many published exploits that illuminate, educate, entertain, and possibly amuse.
Winston Churchill, born in 1874, lived to be 90 years old. He played a prominent role in the late 19th century colonial wars of the British Empire as well as in World War I and II, held every British government office other than foreign secretary, met with virtually every world leader during the first half of the 20th century, and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Daniel Myers’ presentation will cover Churchill’s life and times and include rare photos and brief excerpts from his speeches.
An attorney by training, Daniel Myers served the National Propane Gas Association as chief legal counsel for 25 years, and for 14 of those years he was also its Chief Executive Officer. He retired in 2002 and opened a speech and law practice in his home in Downers Grove, Illinois, to talk about Winston Churchill and to represent non-profit trade associations.
From 2003-2008, he commuted weekly between Chicago and Washington, serving as the Executive Director of The Churchill Centre, a worldwide organization with over 3,000 members that seeks to keep alive the memory and record of the greatest statesman of the 20th Century. He continued his services from home until 2017 and retired as the Centre’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer.
